Bichon Frises and Aging
Generally Bichon Frises are considered to be senior
citizens at about 12 years of age corresponding to the
55-plus category in people. The average lifespan of
Bichon Frises is roughly 14.5 years with some living to
age 16 –18 and even a few to 20 years of age.
Of course all Bichon Frises don’t age the same. Your
dog’s background, genes, and overall health and general
condition are important factors in the aging process.
Between the age of 11-13 years seems to be a
particularly critical time period when Bichon Frises are
especially susceptible to disease so watch for any
noticeable changes in your pet’s physical condition,
habits or behavior.
